The Eagle

Celebrate 250 Years of American Independence with a Meaningful Work of Art

On July 4, 2026, our nation will mark an extraordinary milestone — the 250th anniversary of American Independence. This momentous occasion commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, a document that laid the foundation for the freedoms we enjoy today. As we look ahead to this historic celebration, it’s important to reflect not only on our past but also on the symbols that have come to represent our national spirit — symbols that endure through art and sculpture.

One such symbol is “The Eagle,” a striking bronze sculpture created in 1978 by Timothy Maslyn. This powerful piece of art was inspired by a deep, personal connection to both military service and American values. Timothy crafted The Eagle to honor his own family members who served in the United States Armed Forces, spanning from the Civil War through the Vietnam War. The American Bald Eagle, the subject of the sculpture, represents strength, freedom, and honor — values embodied by those who serve our country.

But this statue goes beyond military tribute. Timothy also designed The Eagle in recognition of the Boy Scouts of America, honoring his father and brother’s long-standing dedication to scouting. His father devoted years working and volunteering with the organization, while his older brother achieved the prestigious Eagle Scout rank — the highest honor in youth scouting. This layered symbolism gives The Eagle a unique place in American commemorative art.

Maslyn Studios is proud to offer The Eagle as a timeless sculpture — perfect for art collectors, patriots, scouting families, and those who simply appreciate the majestic beauty of eagles in sculpture. This bronze statue is more than a decoration; it is a legacy cast in metal.
